The Skyscraper Defense Act

Ever since 911, United States has become obsessed with the threat of terrorism, believing the best defense is a strong offense; taking the fight to the terrorist. There is, however, a fatal flaw in this way of thinking.

What happens if the terrorist slip through the cracks and launches another attack? Will Homeland Security be capable of defending our towering skyscrapers, which are so numerous in number they are impossible to protect? Will our under-funded fire departments and first responders be capable of rescuing the thousands of people trapped on the upper floors of a towering inferno?

The threat is serious. Globally, there are 79,504 skyscrapers, with more than 6,087 under construction. In the top five cities of United States alone, there are 7,552 skyscrapers. On any given day, there are millions of people inside of these skyscrapers, oblivious to the fact that skyscrapers are human death traps.

The Skyscraper Defense Act would fund the creation and training of super elite rescue teams in each major city of the United States. These teams would be capable of rescuing people from the exterior of a burning skyscraper, using specially designed equipment in conjunction with hoveringcrafts and adjacent buildings.

The Skyscraper Defense Act would also train our elite military forces and Swat Teams how to launch counter-terrorist attacks in the event a group of terrorist seized control of a towering skyscraper.

The Skyscraper Defense Act would require all high rises to provide their tenants with oxygen mask, much like it is required for all airlines to provide oxygen mask, and, it would require all skyscrapers to retrofit the interior and exterior of their building, so these methods of rescue can easily be achieved with rescue baskets or fireproof gondolas. It will also require all futures high rises to incorporate these methods of rescue in their architectural designs.
